#SaturdayStretch! The Temporalis!

Since the Temporalis is located at the side of the head, stretching can be painful.

Knowing that the actions of the temporalis are to close the mouth and retract the jaw, the opposite motions should provide a gentle stretch.

So to stretch, open your mouth as wide as you can, then push your jaw forward. You might look a little silly, but that is okay.

As an aid in relieving pain, you could do a little self-massage. Using two or three fingers, rub the side of your head just above and in front of your ears using an up and down or front to back motion. Use as much pressure as you feel comfortable.
